KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Increased security is expected at Academie Lafayette Thursday after a student found a threatening note Wednesday.
Kansas City, Missouri, police said the school’s principal, Elimane Mbengue, told them a student found a folded note on the floor and gave it to a 7th grade teacher.
The teacher sent Mbengue a copy of the note via email.
It read, “You okay?” then “Give me a shotgun. All I need is two shots.”
The student and teacher said they did not know who the note came from.
KCPD said it is working with Acdemie Lafayette faculty to identify the person who wrote the note.
A letter sent to parents Wednesday night said school officials will check students’ backpacks and other bags. Students will also be asked to remove any coats.
It also said “We will have staff on high-alert until our investigation is completed and the student(s) are identified.”
