UPDATE: The shooting victim was identified as 45-year-old Robert D. Shinneman of Liberty, Missouri.
PREVIOUS: Independence police are looking for a person of interest in regard to a homicide investigation.
According to police, officers were called to the 1200 block of South Scott Avenue around 3 a.m. Sunday for a shooting.
When they arrived, officers found a person who had died from gunshot wounds. Their identity has not been released at this time.
The Independence Police Department is looking for 58-year-old Kevin M. Kojeski of Independence in reference to the homicide investigation.
