Update: Independence police find missing man with brain injury

UPDATE - Jan. 1, 1:30 p.m. | Police said Friday afternoon Strup had been located and is safe.

PREVIOUS | Independence police are asking for help to locate a missing 22-year-old man.

Ryan M. Strup was last seen on Christmas Eve. He was walking southbound away from his home in the 1600 block of South Claremont Avenue during the evening of Dec. 24.

Strup has a traumatic brain injury, which resulted in a “diminished mental capacity” and leaves his family concerned for his welfare, according to Independence police.

The 22-year-old Strup is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie over a white Mizzou pullover jacket with a zipper, jeans and blue Nike shoes with camo coles.
