INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - A student was injured trying to throw a burning smartphone off a school bus Wednesday morning.
The City of Independence tweeted a student on a bus dropped a cellphone and it started to smoke. The student reported it to the bus driver who immediately started to evacuate the bus.
The bus evacuated near Thomas Hart Benton Elementary in Independence, Missouri.
The city tweeted another student tried to stomp the burning phone out and then tried to pick it up to throw it off the bus. That same student sustained minor burns.
The school bus wasn’t damaged in the incident.
