KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A busy stretch of Interstate 435 in Kansas City, Missouri, was shut down Thursday afternoon after a police chase and crash.
The crash happened about 1:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate, just past the 87th Street exit, police said.
Officers tried to talk with the three people inside the car, but the driver allegedly tried to hit one of the officers with his Dodge Charger.
The driver didn't hit the officer and sped down Bannister Road before getting on Interstate 435, police said.
The driver then lost control of the car on the left shoulder, and the car shot across all four lanes of traffic.
The car slammed into a guard rail, and the three people in the car tried to run away but were taken into custody.
One person from the car said their arm hurt, another said they were having trouble breathing because of asthma, and the third person was taken to jail, according to police.
The roadway was reopened shortly before 3 p.m.
