There’s a new twist in the ongoing dispute between the Raytown Fire District and city leaders over the Wal-Mart development project.

Fire Chief Matt Mace announced a public hearing will take place Monday, June 6 at 7 p.m. at a yet-to-be-determined location.

City leaders through their attorney denied a request to participate at the hearing.

Mace also says city leaders have failed to adequately inform the public or follow state law by failing to submit some required annual reports on the project.

Mace previously told the 41 Action News Investigators the city has been improperly taking fire district tax money to help pay for the debt on the Wal-Mart project.
