LENEXA, Kan. -- Police are investigating a day care in Lenexa after a mother discovered her 3-year-old daughter covered in bruises.

A spokesperson with the Lenexa Police Department confirmed to 41 Action News Tender Hearts Day Care is the center that's being investigated.

Pictures taken last week by the little girl's mother show heavy bruising on the 3-year-old's back, arms, and head.

One bruise on the child's back appears to be that of a hand print.

The 41 Action News Investigators reached out to the director of Tender Hearts Day Care. She would not comment on the matter. When asked specifically if any employees were fired as a result of the allegations, she wouldn't answer the question.

State records show Tender Hearts Day Care has a history of serious violations.

In February, a 2-year-old wandered away from the day care. The little boy was found on the street by a citizen.

An annual inspection report from March also shows a series of violations against the day care. One violation shows an employee was not certified in pediatric first aid.
