Girls ages 8 to 18 are invited to attend a "Let's Get Pretty" empowerment seminar on July 15 in Kansas City at the UMKC Student Union building.
Empowerment Coach, Latrese Kabuya is the founder and seminar presenter.
Kabuya explained that the event promotes not only healthy self-esteem and self-image, but also provides practical tools for overcoming many of the issues that affect today's young girls such as peer pressure, bullying and finding your purpose in life.
"Girls also learn how to become leaders in their own lives by being assertive, taking risks, standing up for what they believe in, and using their voice and actions to truly lead by example," Kabuya said.
The seminar is $25 per person, but there is a group rate for 10 or more girls at $10 per girl. The seminar begins at 10 a.m. and will end at 4 p.m. Lunch is included in the price.
41 Action News Anchor Cynthia Newsome will be one of the keynote speakers at the empowerment seminar.
