KANSAS CITY, Mo. — J. Rieger & Co. is making progress on construction in its new home in the East Bottoms of Kansas City, Missouri.

The 60,000 square-foot, three-floor building will house several things including multiple bars, a gift shop, event spaces and a Kansas City history exhibit. Tours will also be provided.

Vice President of Sales and Hospitatlity Ryan Maybee said this expansion isn’t just about the company’s growth, but the East Bottoms neighborhood too.

“I think it's going to bring a lot to the neighborhood. I think it's going to help tell the history of it, tell the story of it,” Maybee said. “I think we're going to get not only a lot of locals but it's also going to be a bit of a tourist attraction. Hopefully, we'll get people outside of Kansas City to come and check it out and experience another part of Kansas City that they don't already know about.”

Company leaders said they believe the East Bottoms area will continue to grow through the years.

“I think it'll look quite a bit different, but I also think Kansas City in general has a really unique personality and characteristic and we don't want to lose sight of,” Maybee said. “We want to make sure that we're not only being true to our brand and our company but we're doing Kansas City right as well so we want to make sure we maintain that.”

“I think this could have an impact on a national level as well,” General Manager Joe Hines said. “And really be a place for people to check out when they're in town, you know, for locals to enjoy and I'm really excited to have that option for both.”

Construction is set to be completed by the summer, with a grand opening in mid June.
