Jackson County Detention Center inmate died late Friday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An inmate at the Jackson County Detention Center died late Friday, according to Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forte.

Forte said in a tweet Saturday morning the inmate was found unresponsive in the jail. He died just before midnight at a hospital, according to Forte.

There was no word on a cause of death.

Forte identified the man as Marquis J. Wagner, a 21-year-old resident of Kansas City, Missouri, in a tweet Wednesday.

"The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office has conducted an autopsy to determine the cause of death, findings are pending," Forte said on Twitter.
