KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Jackson County residents will have the final say after all on the future of the Andrew Jackson statue outside the county’s courthouse in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
After concerns were raised about the history of Andrew Jackson, Jackson County legislators passed an ordinance earlier this summer that would ask voters in November whether to remove the statue.
Last week, County Executive Frank White vetoed that legislation, asking legislators to instead vote themselves on whether or not to keep the statue.
On Monday, legislators voted to override White’s veto, putting the question back on the November ballot.
