KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ongoing concerns over the spread of coronavirus prompted Jackson County officials on Wednesday to change how officials are conducting property tax appeals.

In a news release, the Jackson County Board of Equalization told the Jackson County Assessment Department they will conduct BOE appeal hearings over the phone instead of in person.

The change is set to go into effect immediately.

A county spokesperson said BOE staff will notify property owners with pending appeals of the change.
