Janelle Monae says she won't headline KC Jazz and Heritage Festival

UPDATE 2/22/2017: Janelle Monae said on Twitter that she is not headlining the Kansas City Jazz and Heritage Festival.

Organizers announced Tuesday that Monae will headline the festival but the singer later said that is "untrue information."

ORIGINAL STORY:

Kansas City, Kansas native, R&B singer and “Hidden Figures” movie star Janelle Monae will headline the Kansas City Jazz and Heritage Festival, organizers announced on Wednesday.

Previously known as Kansas City’s 18th & Vine Jazz and Blues Festival, the reorganized festival moves from the fall to the spring and has been expanded to three days of live music. 

The Memorial Day weekend line-up includes Grammy award winners John Scofield, Brandy; Mac Arthur Fellowship “genius grant awardee Regina Carter; and hot new sensations The Hot Sardines and Trombone Shorty. Bobby Watson, Logan Richardson, Eddie Moore, Queen Bey, Angela Hagenbach and Oleta Adams are expected to perform as well.

There will also be a panel discussion with the cast member of the hot Fox show Empire and VH1’s for Love and Hip Hop.

Advanced single-day tickets for the main stage are $50 and 4-day weekend passes are $125. You can purchase tickets online or by calling 816-474-8463.
