KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Johnson County judge has dismissed a domestic battery charge against an Overland Park councilman.

Scott Hamblin, who represents the city’s Sixth Ward, was charged in July with the misdemeanor.

The charge was dismissed on Thursday, according to court records.

An attorney for Hamblin said the councilman and his family were “grateful for the Court’s ruling.”

“Mr. Hamblin looks forward to continuing to serve his constituents with great dedication,” the attorney’s statement said.

Hamblin has served on the council since January. He was removed from the council's Public Safety Committee following his arrest.
