A jury cleared the Board of Police Commissioners of Kansas City, Missouri and Chief Darryl Forte in a sexual bias lawsuit.
In 2015, four sergeants with the department filed a lawsuit claiming sexual bias after a female sergeant was hired for the position.
The lawsuit said the sergeant who filled the role was the least qualified of all the candidates, but got the position because of her gender.
The four sergeants accused Forte of hiring the woman to increase diversity within the department.
According to court documents, the jury found in favor of the board of police commissioners and Forte.
