KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Snow is expected to make for some slippery commutes Monday across the Kansas City area.
A Winter Weather Advisory was issued ahead of the expected winter weather.
41 Action News meteorologists predict the area will see a dusting to two inches of snow, though some areas could see a little more.
8:40 a.m. | Bridges and other elevated surfaces are becoming slick as temperatures get cooler. Several crashes have been reported around the area.

8 a.m. | Snow has moved out of the area, but another round is on its way, according to meteorologist Jeff Penner. More can be expected around 8:30 a.m.

7 a.m. | Officials with MoDOT and KDOT joined 41 Action News via phone to discuss snow preparations and road treatment.
6 a.m. | Meteorologist Wes Peery shared a video from Gardner, where the snow started around the morning commute.

5:30 a.m. | Snow has started to the west of the main Kansas City area, both north and south.
Stormtracker found drizzle turn to snow in the Platte City area around 5:30 a.m.
Snowflakes were also reported in the Overland Park area where 41 Action News reporter Charlie Keegan is providing updates.

4 a.m. | A drizzle or light snow is expected to the northwest before 6 a.m.
The bulk of the precipitation is expected to happen between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m., with periods of freezing drizzle, sleet and snow.
If the temperatures drop enough below freezing, there could be some ice on roads for the afternoon commute.
Snow crews across the area were out preparing late Sunday night.
Overland Park officials said their snow crews planned to be out around 2 a.m. treating bridges and overpasses, and then all city streets if needed.
Independence crews will focus on bridges and overpasses as they hit the road Monday morning.

Some schools were already planning to have students learn virtually and cancel any in-person classes for the day in an abundance of caution.
Tomorrow’s school day will be 100% virtual for students, following our virtual schedule for an A-Day, with classes beginning at 9:30 a.m.
