KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, man was charged following a police pursuit and crash on Wednesday that injured a woman and a 3-year-old child, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office.
Miguel Ayala, 32, is charged with resisting arrest and DWI.
According to court documents, police observed Ayala sitting in the driver's seat of a Chevrolet Tahoe in the area of 51st Street and Hedges Avenue.
A woman at that location told officers he had attempted to strike her with the vehicle, so officers engaged in a pursuit.
Through the pursuit, Ayala reached high speeds and failed to observe traffic laws, according to records.
His vehicle struck a gray 2005 BMW at 47th Street and Raytown Road, seriously injuring that driver and a 3-year-old child.
Ayala tested positive for elevated alcohol levels, according to records. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after the crash.
Prosecutors requested a $100,000 bond.
