KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Power & Light District has partnered with Uber, saying the partnership will make getting rides to and from the area easier.

There will now be designated "Uber Zones" in the area, as well as special perks and promotions offered in the Uber app and Kansas City Power & Light District and Kansas City Live! social media sites.

Nick Benjamin, the executive director of the Kansas City Power & Light District, said in a statement the partnership was all about making the P&L experience simpler.

“With this partnership, our visitors will experience a new level of convenience, safety and ease when coming to the Power & Light District," said Benjamin.

Designated ‘Uber Zone’ locations:

  • On 14th Street, at the Walnut Street intersection, in front of 801 Chophouse.
  • On 13th Street at the Walnut Street intersection, on the northwest corner of Kansas City Live! and outside of Flying Saucer and Leinenkugel’s.
  • Outside of KC Live! on Grand Boulevard, between 13th and 14th Streets.

Passengers heading to P&L will be dropped off at one of the locations. Anyone requesting a ride can go to one of the Uber Zones and request a ride within the app.

To kick off the partnership, Uber is offering up to $15 off a ride for first-time users. Enter the promo code "KCLIVE15" in the Uber app to receive the discount. The company also said additional promotions will be available in the coming weeks for new and existing riders.
