The plans for the grand opening of Kansas City’s streetcar were revealed Friday.
Service will officially begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6.
The party includes carnivals rides, a live band, fireworks, First Fridays, the Middle of the Map Fest and a showing of the 1951 film A Streetcar Named Desire at stops across the route.
The celebration includes events on Saturday as well.
The new streetcar will make 16 stops on the more than two-mile route through downtown.
It will operate Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to midnight. On Friday it will run for an additional two hours. On Saturday, the streetcar will operate from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Sundays, service will stop at 10 p.m.
