Kansas City's Power & Light District prepares to reopen

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Power & Light District in downtown Kansas City is ready to get the party restarted.

One of the area's busiest entertain districts released details Friday on how its businesses will reopen.

"We are taking a calculated, phased approach to welcoming visitors back to the District, and of course, taking all appropriate measures to ensure the safety of both our residents and our visitors,''vKansas City Power & Light District Executive Director Nick Benjamin said in a statement. "We have more than 50 local businesses in the Power & Light District and they are all eager to get back to the business of providing services to customers in the safest way possible. We are working hard to help each of our tenants be well-positioned to do so.''

Bristol Seafood+Steak+Social, Chipotle, Country Road Ice House, The Dubliner, Protein House, Whopper Bar and Yard House reopened May 15 for dine-in service.

Cosentino's Market and Rally House are open for shopping.

Johnny's Tavern will open Monday for dine-in customers.

Several restaurants in the district also are open for carryout and curbside service, including Insomnia Cookies and Meshuggah Bagels.

The district also plans to close East 14th Street beginning May 22 to allow outdoor seating while using social distancing practices.
