KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas Department of Labor is warning claimants about a phishing attempt being sent through fraudulent text messages.
The fraudulent texts indicate there may be an error with someone’s unemployment claim and directs them to a website for review.
These texts are not from the Kansas Department of Labor. The agency does not send any text messages to the public, KDOL said in a news release.
Anyone who receives one of the texts should not click any links and should delete the message immediately.
KDOL also will never ask for someone’s full Social Security number over text or email.
The agency is working with law enforcement to investigate the fraudulent texts.
