KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas Department of Labor has a new acting secretary, Gov. Laura Kelly announced Tuesday.
Brett Flachsbarth, KDOL’s deputy secretary, will assume the role until a permanent secretary is named.
Kelly said in a news release that Flachsbarth “knows the ins-and-outs of the issues KDOL faces” as a veteran of the department.
“I’m confident he will be able to continue the progress made and ensure Kansas families receive the relief they need,” Kelly said.
Flachsbarth has been with the department since 2005, when he was a member of its legal team. He became deputy secretary in 2019.
