KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas Senate voted 28-10 to override Gov. Laura Kelly's veto of legislation that would ban transgender athletes from women's sports.

Kelly vetoed Senate Bill 160 on April 15 because she said the law would be harmful to students. She also said it would hurt the state's business interests.

The Kansas House will now also need to vote to override the bill.

Senator's votes on the veto can be found online.
