KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation announced Tuesday it has launched an investigation into the four Catholic dioceses in Kansas on possible clergy abuse.
The call for people to report abuse stems from a six-member task force formed when the Kansas Attorney General’s office requested the KBI investigate allegations of sexual abuse last November, according to a release announcing the investigation.
People with reports of abuse can reach the KBI at 800-KS-CRIME or by sending an e-mail to clergyabuse@kbi.ks.gov.
The KBI will forward any reports to local law enforcement and prosecutors for possible charges, the agency said.
