KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Instead of playing tricks today, 1,000 members of the Girl Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri treated nonprofits to goods they have collected over the course of the month.
Halloween marks the culmination of a month-long focus on community service for the Girl Scouts. Joy Wheeler, CEO of Girl Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri, said the girls have learned about giving back, as well as civic engagement, leading up to the election.
"That's real critical in our leadership development skill building, is how to use your voice effectively to make the world a better place," Wheeler said.
Happy Bottoms, Harvesters and Giving the Basics were among the organizations received items.
