KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Around a dozen folks gathered at Mill Creek Park Wednesday in the aftermath of the general election, advocating that whatever happens next - the election is handled democratically.
With a record amount of mail-in ballots yet to be counted, in an election like none other in American history, people want to make sure their vote counts. And with the presidency yet to be called it's leaving several people feeling uncertain.
“I'm concerned about all the ballots getting counted, which already [President Donald Trump is] tweeting, ‘Oh, well we won Michigan,’" demonstrator Jae Moyer said. "No, you didn’t win Michigan, because the state of Michigan called it for Biden. We’re still looking at North Carolina, Georgia, Alaska... Pennsylvania and Nevada... some of these states that haven’t even called it yet.”
Roughly three to four legal observers with the Missouri American Civil Liberties Union were on the Country Club Plaza Wednesday night.
As the nation waits for the results of the 2020 presidential election, those at Mill Creek Park said what's needed most now is unity.
