KC Health Department reports first flu death of season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri, Health Department confirmed the first death from influenza in the area for the 2019/2020 flu season Friday.

The health department said the person was in their 60s and had underlying health conditions.

As of Dec. 10, the health department reported 212 cases of the flu in Kansas City.

Health officials said numbers are on the rise, but it’s not too late to get the flu shot.

The KCMO immunization clinic, which offers flu vaccines, is located at 2400 Troost Ave. It is open 8 to 11:20 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday. It’s open 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday.
