KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City man is facing charges in the deadly shooting of a 22-year-old woman last weekend.

Marlon D. Davis, 18, is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

He's accused of killing Lakeasha Taylor on Feb. 17 in a home in the 6400 block of East 12th Terrace.

According to court records, several people who lived in the home, including Davis and Taylor, were poking fun at each other when Taylor made a sarcastic comment about Davis not paying rent. Witnesses told investigators that the people present laughed but Davis became agitated and left the room.

Davis allegedly returned with a handgun and shot Taylor. He then fled on foot.

Three witnesses identified Davis as the shooter, according to court documents.

Prosecutors have requested a $50,000 bond.
