KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri, Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting proposals for a destination play site at Martin Luther King Square Park.

The project is funded by Patrick Mahomes’ 15 and The Mahomies Foundation.

KC Parks said Friday it is looking for “a one-of-a-kind team to build a one-of-a-kind destination play site” that honors King’s legacy.

Proposals can be submitted online.

Mandatory pre-bid virtual meetings are set for Sept. 24 and Oct. 1.

KC Parks said whichever vendor is selected for the build will work with the Community Design Team and the foundation to create an inclusive play space.

The project could cost between $800,000 and $1 million.

Martin Luther King Square Park is located at Swope Parkway and Woodland Avenue.
