KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Police said someone crashed a car reported as stolen into a tree Monday morning. The crash happened on Blue Ridge Boulevard, south of Highway 24 at about 9:30 a.m.
Kansas City police said someone reported the car stolen to Independence police Sunday.
When police arrived at the crash scene, the driver was gone. Officers believe a passenger may have fled the scene as well. One man was in the front passenger seat with injuries to his legs.
“He was screaming his legs were hurting, and his hip was broken. And he was bleeding from his nose. He was not in very good condition at all,” said Sereptia Williams, who lives nearby and heard the crash.
Officers said the car was going too fast down a hill, which most likely led to the crash.
