The KC Streetcar and businesses along the streetcar route prepare for Big 12 crowds

Posted

This is crunch time for the Kansas City Streetcar and downtown Kansas City businesses preparing for the Big 12 Tournament.

Thousands of people come to Kansas City to see the basketball tournament.

This will be the first year the KC Streetcar will be operating during the Big 12 tournament. There will be some noticeable changes.

The Streetcar will have Big 12 decals on the side making basketball players and visitors feel welcome.

At Thursday's streetcar meeting executives talked about making sure the streetcars and the stops are clean and presentable.

They also discussed adding a fourth streetcar to help reduce traffic and handle expected increased ridership during the Big 12 tournament.

Anton Kotar, owner of Anton's Tap Room at 1610 Main Street in Kansas City is adding staff, and stocking up on beer to get ready for the Big 12 crowds. A streetcar stop is right outside his front door.  He believes it will definitely help boost his business during the tournament even more than usual.
