ORIGINAL STORY:
KC Streetcar passengers waited patiently for a ride this morning before realizing the streetcar wasn't running and returning home.
Simon Huntley was among those waiting for a ride. He was hoping to go to the City Market for a cup of coffee.
"I've been standing here for over 10 minutes," said Huntley.
The streetcar was scheduled to hit the tracks at 7:00 Sunday morning, but that didn't happen. The service was suspended due to weather conditions.
A KC Streetcar Response vehicle showed up at the North Loop at 7th and Main. The workers did not say how the weather affected the streetcar line, but the KC Streetcar Twitter page blamed ice on overhead lines and the need to test switches and signals.
The KC Streetcar hit the tracks in May of 2016. The Streetcar Authority reports on average, more than 6-thousand riders climb aboard every day.
