KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The most-recent addition to the Kansas City Zoo’s Polar Bear Exhibit, Bam Bam, died Tuesday night from liver cancer.
She was 31 years-old.
The Zoo said in a press release Wednesday that although Bam Bam had been in good health, recent tests showed her liver was failing. Further testing revealed she had untreatable liver cancer.
Zoo veterinarians made the decision to euthanize the bear Tuesday night.
Bam Bam joined the zoo in Spring 2018 to join Berlin, 29, as the Zoo’s other polar bear.
The Zoo said Bam Bam will be remembered for her love of peanut butter and celery.
