UPDATE 3:40 p.m. | The Kansas City Zoo will be closed beginning March 18 and will not re-open until April 1.
Public and private events also are canceled, but zoo staff will continue to care for the animals.
ORIGINAL STORY | The Kansas City Zoo is continuing to give residents a peek into the lives of its penguins and giraffes.
The zoo shared a 24/7 stream to its “Penguin Cam” in the Helzberg Penguin Plaza.

The stream originally launched in October.
Zoo officials also shared a link to the “giraffe cam” on Facebook.
While many establishments in the metro have closed, the Kansas City Zoo was still open to visitors as of March 17.
