KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An investigation is underway into what started a fire at an apartment building in the 1100 block of Benton Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri.
Firefighters were called to the four-story building around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The fire was quickly upgraded and more crews were called in to help. KCFD said it was a quickly moving fire with the flames emerging through the roof.
Multiple rescues were made and four people were taken to the hospital. KCFD said one of those is in serious condition.

KCFD expects the building to be a total loss. It's not clear at this time how many people will be displaced.
The Red Cross is on the scene assisting those who live there.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms tweeted Wednesday morning that it is assisting KCFD in the investigation.
