KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department says three people are dead after a Kansas City, Missouri, fire truck and SUV collided, causing a partial building collapse.

The incident happened about 10:25 p.m. Wednesday on Broadway Boulevard near Westport Road.

A KCFD spokesman said the fire truck was going north on Broadway Boulevard with its lights and sirens on.

The truck and SUV collided, and the force of the crash sent the truck and SUV into a nearby brick building.

Police said they were able to get both vehicles out of the building itself and they determined two people were in the SUV struck by the fire truck.

Those two people, a man and woman, were killed.

A third person was also dead late Thursday morning. Crews found a pedestrian they'd been looking for around 10:15 a.m.

They believed the pedestrian, who they confirmed was a woman, was hit and buried in the rubble of the building.

Firefighters were on the scene late Wednesday digging through the rubble, trying to shore up part of the collapsed building.
