KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A man has been charged after a dog was found stabbed to death Tuesday.
The dog was found in the 2200 block of South 22nd Street in Kansas City, Kansas.
John Caffrey, 43, was charged with one count of cruelty to animals in Wyandotte County Court.
A witness said she saw the man take the dog into the backyard of a home.
"After, I heard the dog squall out about four times, and then it was quiet. He came back. He had a knife in his hand, and the dog wasn't with him, and we called 911," Carla Atkins said.
Police said they removed two other dogs from Caffrey's home.
