KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Electric scooter and bike riders have two new spots to park in Kansas City, Missouri, after the installment of on-street hubs.
The city partnered with Midtown Design Development and Construction on the spots, which are part of a pilot program started earlier this week.
The two parking sites are located at 13th Street and Grand Boulevard, and 19th Street and Baltimore Avenue.
The city said the new spots did not take away any vehicle parking, but rather "turned existing pavement space into usable parking for bikes and scooters."
KCMO plans to gather feedback from residents to evaluate the program over the next few months.
If all goes well, and funding is available, more on-street parking hubs may begin popping up around KC.
This initiative comes as the city launched a yearlong pilot program with Bird, RideKC and Spin to gather data about multimodal transportation.
