KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, man whose blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he crashed head-on into another vehicle in 2017, killing a married couple, was sentenced Friday to 26 years in prison.

Preston Moore, 30, was sentenced on two counts of driving while intoxicated causing death.

In November 2017, Moore was driving the wrong way on U.S. 71, going around 85 mph, when he crashed head-on into an SUV, according to court documents.

Ryan Humphrey, 31, and his wife, Laura Humphrey, 29, were killed at the scene.

A blood-alcohol test showed that Moore had more than twice the legal amount of alcohol in his bloodstream, according to documents.

Moore was previously convicted of a DWI in 2014.
