KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman succumbed to life-threatening injuries after a shooting in the 2700 block of Park Avenue on Monday morning, according to Kansas City, Missouri, police.
Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area shortly after 7 a.m. According to police, the woman was involved in a disturbance inside the home involving one or more people.
She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.
Officers initially said a man in a gray hoodie shot the woman and ran away. Later Monday morning, police spokesman Sgt. Jake Becchina said police were working to determine how she was injured and her cause of death.
Police also said they did not know whether the woman lived at the home or was visiting.
"There's so many resources out there and churches, and schools and neighborhood associations and people can call and if you have concerns about somebody or if there is somebody and there is an ongoing argument - there's so many resources out there, it just doesn't have to come to this," Becchina said.
