More protesters who defied KCPD commands may be charged for their actions Saturday night at the Trump campaign rally.
Kansas City Police are reviewing two videos that surfaced Sunday.
Police said Trump protesters' voices turned into illegal actions on Saturday night.
“They kept trying to get into the streets.. They obviously can do pretty much what they want on the sidewalk, but you can't be disobeying the law,“ Captain Tye Grant, a KCPD spokesperson, said.
The video shows protesters spilling onto the street, one even striking a horse with the department’s Mounted Patrol.
Officers said they had no choice but to use pepper spray the crowd.
KCPD Chief Darryl Forté posted this surveillance video on his blog that shows the crowd dispersing. He commended his officers for taking the steps they did Saturday.
Some of the protesters are familiar faces to police.
[There] were people that we see at about any other protest that occurs in Kansas City, they're well-known, I'm not sure that they're there for a cause as they are for an opportunity,” Captain Grant said.
Lawyer Jean Maneke says while the county was founded on the first amendment, safety comes first.
“If law enforcement believes that there is a threat to the public, they are obligated to to protect the public,” Maneke said.
Inside the Trump campaign rally, things weren’t much different, although there’s a gray area on the right to protest inside a venue.
“[It’s] between the right you have to speak and the right that others in that room have to hear what's being said,” Maneke said.
Early Monday afternoon, these individuals were arrested and charged for their actions at the rally.
