According to Sgt. Bill Mahoney of the KCPD Accident Investigation, patrol officers took a man connected to a Raytown homicide investigation into custody.
Sgt. Mahoney said officers encountered a vehicle and ran its plates. Officers discovered the vehicle was connected to a homicide investigation out of Raytown.
Raytown police said the man in the car was wanted on a stop order for questioning related to a Raytown homicide that happened on Sept. 10 at 66th and Raytown Road. Raytown police said the man has not been called a suspect and was wanted for questioning as a person of interest only.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle near 59th and Wabash Avenue, but the driver refused to pull over. According Sgt. Mahoney, a car chase ensued ending a short time later in the area of 85th and Hickman Mills.
According to police, the suspect driver was driving eastbound when they crossed the center line and crashed head on into a white pickup truck going westbound. The occupant in the white pickup was transported to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Both occupants in the suspect vehicle were not injured. Police say one suspect is in custody and is being held for questioning.
Raytown police said there is no arrest warrant, and charges have not been filed.
