KCPD identifies man found burned to death at homeless camp

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The man found burned to death at a homeless camp on Super Bowl Sunday has been identified and his death is being investigated as a homicide.

The body of Derrick Wallace, 31, was discovered around 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 2 by Kansas City, Missouri, police officers responding to a reported dead body.

At the apparent homeless camp, officers located Wallace and called detectives to launch an investigation.

No cause of death has been determined, according to a KCPD spokesman.
