KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police closed of part of East 27th Street for a standoff involving an armed person Thursday morning.
The standoff began in the 5700 block of East 27th Street - near Van Brunt Boulevard - around 5 a.m.
Police said that it involved a person who fired shot at officers before going inside a residence.
Officials on the scene said that the standoff began as a domestic violence call involving two women and the male suspect.
The female caller said a man fired shots at her during an argument.
The man met officers outside the home and shots were exchanged but no one was injured.
Officers breached the house around 9 a.m. but it was empty so the standoff was ended and the suspect was not located.
KCPD said the two women were in a safe place and cooperating with detectives.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the officer-involved gunfire, which is standard procedure. KCPD will investigate the domestic assault.
