KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri police officer and a 78-year-old man were injured in a collision near 26th Street and Michigan Avenue shortly after noon on Wednesday.
Investigators said the KCPD officer was eastbound with the vehicle's lights and sirens on, en route to a call. When the officer went through the red light at the intersection, he collided with a northbound Chevrolet Equinox driven by the man.
Both the officer and the other driver were taken to the hospital.
The officer sustained minor injuries. The man sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
