KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, police officer has been suspended from duty without pay after he was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography.

Jackson County prosecutors Friday charged Vincent Spilker, 29, for the crimes associated with images and videos Spilker had posted on his Tumblr account in 2018.

A release from KCPD indicated Spilker graduated from the Regional Police Academy in Jan. 2019.

According to court documents, on Aug. 2, 2018, Tumblr officials sent a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an account that contained child pornography – some depicting children as young as 3 - and shut down the account.

Subsequent investigation traced the account to Spilker’s apartment in south Kansas City.

In a June 2019 interview with detectives, Spilker admitted the Tumblr account was his and that he reposted the child pornography on the account.

Prosecutors have requested a $75,000 bond.
