KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The suspect accused of fleeing a deadly crash at a bus stop last week has turned himself in, Kansas City, Missouri, police said Tuesday.

Charges are expected to be filed soon, KCPD Sgt. Jake Becchina said.

The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m on June 11 near 67th Street and Troost Avenue. Police said a gray Chevrolet Impala was traveling southbound on Troost when the driver went off the roadway and hit a bus enclosure where 59-year-old Mark Hovey was sitting on a bench.

The vehicle struck Hovey, who was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Police said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot.

The installation of a new bus shelter was expected to be done this week.
