KDOT, KHP plan crackdown on Interstate 435, Kansas highways

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Drivers who violate the law may want to keep their head on a swivel next month.

The Kansas Department of Transportation and the Kansas Highway Patrol are joining forces to make Kansas highways safer. 

The week of April 9-13 is Kansas Work Zone Safety awareness week.  

Department of Transportation worker Aaron Whited, sitting in his car last week when he was rear-ended by a car.

Whited was in a construction zone at the time of the crash.

Neither person was seriously hurt, but KDOT hopes the incident serves as a reminder to motorists to slow down in work zones.
