TOPEKA, Kan. – Kansas’ Kris Kobach, who is running to win the Republican nomination for Governor, has reached out to the National Rifle Association in hopes of bringing their annual convention to Kansas.
The NRA annual meeting and convention is scheduled for May 4-6 in Dallas. However, Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway said just a day after the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida that if the NRA chose to come to Dallas they would be “met with opposition.”
In a tweet earlier this week, Kobach said that “Kansas is the most pro-gun state in America.”
A November 2017 article in Guns&Ammo magazine ranked Kansas as the third-best state for gun owners. Arizona tops the list.
41 Action News reached out to the NRA to see if moving the convention is feasible, and if so, could Kansas be an option. As of the publication, we had not received a response.
