LAWRENCE, Kan. — The Midwest Transplant Network is honoring a shooting victim who changed the lives of six dozen people through donations.
Leah Brown was shot and killed in October 2017, in downtown Lawrence.
But even after her death, she helped up dozens of people in desperate need. Brown was a tissue donor.
"I am so proud, so incredibly proud of Leah and who she was as a person and that she was able to give," said her mom Gretchen.
This year, the Midwest Transplant Network chose Leah for its floragraph. It's one of 44 nationwide. Her image will be placed on the Donate Life Rose Parade to honor organ donors across the country.
Transplant recipients will help build the float. They will join living donors and walk besides the float during the parade, as Brown's family watches.
